Since 2006 I am working for the European Broadcasting Union, responsible for communications and public relations for the Junior- and Eurovision Song Contest. This weekend, the 7th running took place in Kyiv, Ukraine. The Netherlands won the competition for 10 to 15 years old talent.
Ralf Mackenbach finished first with his self-penned song Click Clack, thanks to support from televoters and professional jury members in the other 12 participating countries.
It was quite something to see the Netherlands win a Eurovision event, 34 years after the legendary victory of Teach-In at the Eurovision Song Contest. Those who said that the Netherlands simply can’t win the competition anymore - often pointing at eastern-Europe - belongs to the past if you ask me

Until the 15th of December, I’ll be located in Tallinn (Estonia). Mission: To finish my book How To Live Wow! I decided to take myself out of my usual habitat, to make it easier to concentrate on writing. My mission has been made possible by real estate company Goodson & Red, which provided me with a wonderful apartment against a very reasonable rate!
Here in Tallinn it’s already around 3 degrees during daytime. Nevertheless, it’s good to be back here. Between August 2007 and October 2008 I already lived in Tallinn, which was an amazing experience in many ways.
Over the upcoming weeks, I will keep you posted on the latest developments from this Medieval city! Again, thanks a lot to the kind people of Goodson & Red, who helped me so much with finding a wonderful apartment!
PS Stay tuned, also for new posts on HowToLiveWow.com!
Last night saw the beta launch of a new project I initated: HowToLiveWow.com. On this website you will find inspiring stories, useful tools and helpful advice on how to achieve your highest potential, so you can live a happier, healthier, wealthier and more successful life. This site also helps you to connect with others, spread the word and to positively change your environment and the world we live in.
Parallel to posting on HowToLiveWow.com I am writing a book, describing the extraordinary search for the answers to the questions that keep our generation busy, and write a book about it. The odds of coming up with an eye-opening book that can change the world, our personal happiness and our common future are very small. But I am willing to give it a try, because I believe it is worth it. The goal is to finish the book in the first half of 2010.
Check out HowToLiveWow.com and share it with your friends. Thanks a lot!
PS Those of you who visit often will notice that some of the posts you can read on the new website previously featured here.
Last week, someone challenged me to make a list of 101 things I want to do in my life, people I’d like to meet, places I’d like to see, and so on. The number 101 is obviously more of random choice, but that certainly didn’t make the challenge less exciting!
I started my list with names of the people I’d like to meet in my life. Wouldn’t mind having a coffee with folks like Anthony Robbins, Barack Obama or Al Gore. Then I wondered: “Where do I want to go?” Iceland, New York, Fiji, Dubai… All on my list. So, what do I want to get done in my life? Publishing a book, getting a flying license, directing a live TV show…
After a lot of thoughts and staring at other people’s lists I couldn’t get further than a modest 40 things I want to get done in my life. That certainly challenges me to think about it a bit longer, but I can already tell you it is a great way of forcing yourself to live in a more concious way.
Do you want to challenge yourself as well? It doesn’t take more than a pen and a piece of paper, or an empty notepad file on your computer to make yourself a list of 101 things you want to do in your life. Good luck!
